Coming to theaters on December 14, Japanese-Thai BL film 'Dear Kitakyushu' tells the story of two young men from two countries falling in love


The Japanese-Thailand BL film titled "Dear Kitakyushu" is set to premiere on December 14, 2023, at the Kitakyushu Film Festival in Japan. The film features Thai actor Mark Siwat and Japanese actor Uemera Souta.


"Dear Kitakyushu" tells the story of a Thai youth named Aom, vacationing in Kitakyushu, Japan. There, he meets a Japanese youth named Sho, who helps him search for something lost. Their encounter evolves into a love story.


Directed by David Bigander, known for directing BL series "Bite Me" and "Be Mine Superstar," the film's shooting process concluded in November 2023.


Mark Siwat, renowned for his role as Kengkla in the TV series "Love by Chance," expressed his joy in being part of the film. He also looks forward to meeting his fans in Japan.


"I am very happy, honored, and thrilled to be a part of the film 'Dear Kitakyushu,'" said Mark Siwat in a press conference. "I am also eager to meet my fans in Japan and watch this film with them."


Uemera Souta, known for his role as Ryo in the TV series "Kiss x Kiss x Kiss ~Perfect Scandal~," also shared his excitement in starring in the film. He hopes the film will be embraced by BL fans from both countries.


Kitakyushu, Japan, known as "Japanese Hollywood," has been a filming location for various media productions for over 30 years. Some media productions shot in Kitakyushu include the music videos of BNK48 and the Thai film "Brother of the Year."


"Dear Kitakyushu" is expected to serve as a cultural bridge between Thailand and Japan. The film also aims to capture the attention of BL fans from both countries.
